Lens 1-9 Como: A Night for the Record Books
Nobody predicted this scoreline. Como, who we flagged as one of the stories of the season, scored nine goals in a single Champions League game, and Anastasios Douvikas scored a hat-trick. Nico Paz, Lucas da Cunha, Marc-Oliver Kempf, Mattia Liberali and Martin Baturina were also on the scoresheet, and Matteo Papaccioli scored late on his senior debut, according to Sports Mole. Ruben Aguilar got Lens’s only goal.
Reports describe the result as equalling a Champions League record, either for the biggest winning margin or for goals in a match, depending on the outlet, so treat the exact wording with care. What is clear is the table. Como are fourth with nine points, while Lens have dropped to 33rd, well outside the qualifying places.
Fenerbahçe 3-2 Liverpool: The Perfect Start Ends
Liverpool arrived with three wins from three, but left Istanbul beaten. Trey Nyoni put them ahead in the 25th minute, and Mason Greenwood levelled with a deflected finish. Alexander Isak restored the lead in the 69th minute, but Archie Brown made it 2-2 and Vedat Muriqi scored the winner in the 79th, as The Daily Jagran reports.
It was Liverpool’s first league-phase defeat and Fenerbahçe’s first win of the campaign, under new coach Dirk Kuyt. It also follows the 1-0 home loss to Arsenal on Sunday, so Liverpool have now lost two in a row across competitions, which is a concern for coach Andoni Iraola, who said before the game that the team needs to improve “especially attacking the box”. They stay on nine points, still in the top eight on the evidence of one outlet’s table, but the margin for error is thin.
AEK Athens 2-3 Real Madrid: Valverde Rescues Madrid Again
This was another late Real Madrid escape. Aboubakary Koita gave AEK the lead, Jude Bellingham equalised, Stavros Pilios put the hosts ahead again and Kylian Mbappé levelled. Federico Valverde then scored the winner in stoppage time (93rd minute, per Sports Mole). Koita was sent off after the final whistle for protesting to the referee.
Mbappé’s equaliser kept alive his scoring run, since he had scored in each of his previous five Champions League appearances, according to the AP preview on KSAT. Madrid have now won four straight league-phase games and have scored five match-winning goals in the last five minutes this season. They have 12 points, level with PSG but behind them on goal difference, according to İdman və Biz. For the El Clásico win that started this run, see our match report.
RB Leipzig 2-3 Manchester City: Haaland Does It Again
City needed a comeback of sorts. A Castello Lukeba own goal gave them the lead, Ridle Baku equalised after the break, and Enzo Fernández put City back in front. Antonio Nusa levelled again before Erling Haaland scored the winner in the 78th minute. We said Haaland loved playing Leipzig, and he now has 13 goals in nine appearances against them.
The win ends a poor spell of back-to-back Premier League defeats, though City’s defence will still worry Enzo Maresca. They are seventh with nine points, while Leipzig are 29th with three. If you want to see City against another elite side, read our Man City vs PSG report.

Slavia Prague 1-2 Arsenal: Three Wins from Four
Arsenal did the job without drama. Noni Madueke scored from the penalty spot in the ninth minute and Viktor Gyökeres made it 2-0 just before half-time (38th). Wiktor Nowak pulled one back for Slavia in the 90th minute, but it was too late. Arsenal have three wins from four and 10 points, third in the table. Slavia are 34th and still looking for a first win. Our Champions League draw guide explains why a top-eight finish matters so much.
The Other Results
Dortmund 2-1 Betis: Fábio Silva scored early in the second half, Aitor Ruibal equalised five minutes after coming on, and teenager Konstantinos Karetsas scored the winner around the 70th minute, his first Champions League goal. Dortmund are 12th, one place behind Betis.
Porto 4-1 Napoli: Jan Bednarek, Gabri Veiga, Jakub Kiwior and Samu Aghehowa scored for Porto, who finally got their first win. Scott McTominay replied for Napoli, who had Rafa Marín sent off late and now sit 27th after losing three of their four games.
PSV 1-2 Club Brugge: Kodai Sano and Carlos Forbs (the winner) scored for Brugge, with Nicolo Tresoldi replying for PSV. Goalkeeper Yann Sommer made seven saves, and Brugge are ninth, just outside the top eight on goal difference.
Viking 4-1 Sabah: Viking won their first-ever Champions League match, with Erik Botheim scoring twice. Sabah’s Aden McCarthy was sent off in the 77th minute. Viking are 22nd with four points and Sabah 31st with three.
What the Table Looks Like Now
After two nights of football, PSG lead with 12 points and Real Madrid also have 12, behind on goal difference. Arsenal are third with 10. Como, Barcelona, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool all have nine points and complete the top eight in İdman və Biz’s table. Tables can shift on goal difference, so check UEFA’s official standings. Tuesday’s wins for Barcelona and Villa, plus PSG’s 6-0 rout, shaped the top of this list, and you can read how Barcelona’s campaign began in our Barcelona vs Feyenoord piece.
What Comes Next
Matchday 5 is the next chance to move. Every point counts in the race for the top eight, and the biggest question is whether Liverpool can recover from two straight defeats. Real Madrid’s habit of late winners will also be tested. For more on the week in sport, read our 2 November trending round-up.
