Where the League Table Stands

After three rounds, the top five are all on nine points: PSG, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Real Betis, as the NBC Sports table shows. Arsenal have seven points, Barcelona and Manchester City six, and Bayern five. The top eight finish directly into the round of 16, so every point is valuable this early.

Atlético Madrid vs Bayern Munich

This is the headline fixture. Bayern are 14th with five points after beating Bodø/Glimt 5-0, drawing 3-3 at Viking and drawing 2-2 with Arsenal. They have scored ten goals in three games. Atlético are 16th with four points, having lost at Liverpool, beaten Manchester United 2-0 and drawn 1-1 at Stuttgart.

Team news is the big storyline, according to Bayern’s own preview. Jamal Musiala and Luis Díaz are out, along with Serge Gnabry. Michael Olise left the Dortmund game as a precaution and is a doubt, while Manuel Neuer has travelled after training. Head coach Vincent Kompany is off sick, so assistant Aaron Danks is in charge again. It is a tough night to be short-handed, because Atlético have not lost any of their last 16 home European games against German opponents, with 12 wins and four draws.

For English readers, Harry Kane is the player to watch. He recently won the Ballon d’Or, as our Ballon d’Or 2026 report explains, and he has called Atlético dangerous on the counter and very solid defensively. Atlético also sit second in LaLiga, two points behind leaders Barcelona.

Barcelona vs Aston Villa

Unai Emery’s Villa arrive at Camp Nou with a perfect record, three wins from three. Their last game was a 1-1 draw at home to Fulham in the Premier League, in which a late own goal cost them a win. Nicolas Jackson is available, but Amadou Onana is out with a knee injury and Matteo Ruggeri and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have thigh problems, per a Dave Sport preview.

Barcelona are coming off a 6-1 win over Alavés, where Raphinha and Lamine Yamal both scored twice, but they lost their last Champions League game away to PSG. Hansi Flick has defensive selection issues, with Dani Olmo, Jules Koundé, Andreas Christensen and Eric García all listed as absent. The key question is whether Villa can contain Yamal without leaving space behind their full-back. Manchester United vs Roma

For British fans, this is the most anxious game of the night. United have gone nine matches without a win in all competitions, most recently losing 2-0 at Chelsea, as Dave Sport notes. They have three points from three league-phase games, having beaten Sabah before losing to Atlético Madrid and Como. Michael Carrick’s position is under pressure, and you can read how the Chelsea defeat unfolded in our 2 November round-up.

Amad is a doubt, and Kobbie Mainoo returned from the bench against Chelsea. Lisandro Martinez was sent off at Stamford Bridge, but that ban does not carry over to Europe. Roma are in good form, unbeaten in their last 17 Serie A matches and fresh from a 5-2 win over Udinese. Donyell Malen has eight Serie A goals and three in the Champions League. Paulo Dybala is uncertain, while Mile Svilar and Manu Koné are out, so Pierluigi Gollini is expected in goal.

Villarreal vs Paris Saint-Germain

PSG lead the table with nine points and 14 goals, and they are on a nine-game winning run in all competitions. They are also unbeaten in 13 Champions League matches, which matches a club record, according to 101 Great Goals. Their wins this season include 4-2 at Manchester City and 4-2 against Barcelona. Our Man City vs PSG report covers that night.

Villarreal are 19th with three points. They lost 3-2 at Dortmund, beat Napoli 3-1, and then lost 4-3 at Liverpool after leading 2-0. PSG are without Ousmane Dembélé, Marquinhos and Nuno Mendes through thigh problems, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is out long term with a knee injury. Gerard Moreno and Juan Foyth are among Villarreal’s absentees. This is the first meeting between the clubs.

The Early Game and Other Fixtures

The 5.45pm slot features Galatasaray against Stuttgart. According to NaijaNews, Galatasaray are 23rd with three points after two straight defeats, while Stuttgart are sixth with seven. Victor Osimhen has 10 goals in 10 competitive appearances this season. Elsewhere, Feyenoord host Inter, Bodø/Glimt face Lille, Shakhtar meet Sporting, and LASK play Slovan Bratislava.

Looking Ahead to Wednesday

Tomorrow brings Fenerbahçe vs Liverpool, AEK vs Real Madrid, RB Leipzig vs Manchester City and Slavia Prague vs Arsenal. If you want to see how Arsenal arrived in this form, see our 23 October trending report, which covers their thriller against Bayern.

Three Storylines to Follow Tonight

  1. Injuries decide the big games. Bayern and PSG both have key players missing, so squad depth matters as much as star names.
  2. Can United stop the slide? A ninth-game winless run is a heavy burden, and Roma are not an easy opponent. Any result will shape the debate around Carrick.
  3. Who is a real contender? Villa’s perfect start is tested at Camp Nou, and PSG’s long unbeaten run is tested away. Both results will tell us a lot about the top eight race.
